- This is the US Springfield Pistol carbine, also referred to as the 1855 dragoon pistol. It is actually made in both Springfield and Harpers Ferry arsenals. They were carried by mounted US units from the 1850's right into the American Civil War.

- Although this pistol was never produced in huge numbers, due to the popularity of the revolver, many US and Confederate cavalry still used them throughout the conflict.
